A brief history of clear aligners
Clear aligners have been around since the late 1990s, with the introduction of Invisalign by Align Technology in 1997. Invisalign was released to market in the US in 1999 at which time our very own Specialist Orthodontist Dr Igor Lavrin was trained in its use. He was then one of the first orthodontists in Australia to use Invisalign. Dr Lavrin and Dr Lawrence have used clear aligners to treat thousands of patients now for almost a quarter of a century!
Over the years, several other companies have also entered the clear aligner market with their own products, offering similar alternatives to traditional braces. These include Spark Clear Aligners, the now former SmileDirectClub and Byte.
